Carole Pigott has had a 30 year career exhibiting in
New Orleans, Dallas, Pittsburgh, Scottsdale, and now
in Santa Fe. She is collected by Merrill Lynch, New
York, The Broadmoor Resort, Colorado Springs, Bailey's
Casino, Las Vegas, Senator Thad Cochran, Washington,
Mississippi Museum of Art and more. Piggott is now working
of a series based on the words of Eudora Welty.
"I grew up in Mississippi, moved to New Orleans,
then Santa Fe in 1989. My whole attitude towards
art was formed by the colony that has been wiped
out by the hurricane, and my grief has been magnified
by being in the middle of paintings from places
that are no longer there. I had been returning South
gathering material for the current project, a Eudora
Welty series when the hurricane hit. The series
is a suite of paintings based on my visual images evoked
by the words of the Pulitzer Prize winning author, with
her permission. I am also working on a commission
for the Colorado Symphony Concert Hall in Denver.
I have been published in American Art Magazine, American
Artist Pastel Annual and American Artist of Renown.''
