Born and raised on the bluffs of the Mississippi, Matthew Hasty has always been fascinated by the tranquil beauty of the River.  Prominent landscape and marine painters such as J.M. Turner, Ivan Aviazovsky, and Arkhip Kuinji are some of his influences.  At the Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida he began developing his technique and learned how to create works that evoke the artists’ “connection” to the art.  While his earlier work were predominantly oils on canvas, the technical advances with acrylics now allow him to produce multilayered paintings without the exasperating long waiting periods between successive coats.

Following a brief but frustrating foray into the art work of New York, Hasty returned to his birthplace of Memphis where he continues to create hauntingly beautiful landscapes.  Collectors in the United States, Europe and Asia continue to enjoy and acquire his skilful presentations.
